  • How did you come to participate in the FYI?

"I have known the Airbus FYI competition since it’s 2013 edition when I was an undergraduate student. However, I wasn’t ready enough to participate on the last two editions of this biennial competition. Last year, I got the information about 2017 edition of Airbus FYI from ISAE and I decided to participate in this well-known competition."

  • How did you build your team?

PassEx Poster"In the beginning of the competition, I build a team with two other students from different backgrounds. There are Raisa, a Business management master student at IAE Toulouse, and Dicky, GNSS master student at ENAC. Coming from different background gives us the advantage to having different perspective during analysing a problem."

  • On which topic did you decide to work?

"There are five different challenges that could be selected and throughout continuous deliberation, we decided to propose an idea to overcome passenger experience challenge. We proposed a new boarding process to reduce onboard congestion while also ensure each passenger to have space for their luggage without changing the design of the aircraft."

  • How many hours do you spend per week on the topic?

"I spent at least 6 hours per week to work on this competition during the second round. Every weekend, our team gathered at ISAE working on various tasks."

  • Do you have any contact Airbus in Toulouse to help you in your work? What is the frequency?

"Each 2nd round team had an Airbus mentor to help us building our ideas. Fortunately, both our team and our mentor are based in Toulouse, so we could have face to face meeting while the other 49 teams only able to use video conference meeting. Every Friday from February to March, our team went to Airbus office in Blagnac to discuss our idea with our Airbus mentor."

  • What do you think participating in this contest will bring to you?

"The opportunity to work with Airbus Engineer is the most incredible experience for myself. This is the main reason why I participate in this competition."

  • As a final year master of science student, where will you perform your internship ?

"Next month, I will go to Donauworth, Germany to perform 6-month internship at Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH. I will work in Navigation and sensor system department to develop aeronautical data processing tool."
