Course work is in two phases:
A common core phase
The academic basics in the main
fields of management are taught here.
Students are put into teams
so that the learning process and case studies provide a vehicle for preparing
them to work in a team spirit.
In parallel, courses are ensured by business school ("Grande école") and university professors.
Accompaniment is provided (both through one-to-one teaching and individual follow-up) by social psychologists and psychologists specialised in mental preparation of high level athletes. The purpose of this accompaniment is to prepare for team work, the management of interpersonal relations, personal development oriented towards verbal and non-verbal communication, speaking before a group and conflict management.
This phase ends in a strategic audit task on topics suggested by a consulting firm (Roland Berger). Students must prepare this work, by group work, over one weekend, accompanied by a team of senior consultants from Roland Berger and present it before a jury comprising the Vice President of the Consulting Firm and teachers from DESIA. Extremely close attention is devoted to the thoroughness of argumentation and group cohesion.
A phase of options for professional choice
Four options are offered:
- Business Engineer for students seeking to move towards the process side of the company,
- Design Engineer for students who want to capitalise on their scientific and technical competences,
- Consulting Engineer for students who are keen to make the most of their dual skill and provide solutions to technical-economic problems,
- Finance Engineer for students wishing to capitalise on their dual competence to move towards a sector where mathematics is at the heart of the economic model for financial institutions.
