The ISAE has a fleet of 10 aircraft (one Tb20, five Robin DR 400s, four Aquilas) for ISAE-student flying training (air experience flights, illustration of teaching, experimental work, introduction-to-research projects, and so on).

The Institute encourages the practice of aerial activities

Indeed the Institute encourages the practice of aerial activities by assisting students in obtaining licences and certificates in various disciplines (powered flight, gliding, parachuting, paragliding, micro-light flying, and so on).

The ISAE has its own teaching staff for powered flight, which is one of the optional modules in SUPAERO Graduate Program. The other activities are contracted to specialised external bodies.

The theoretical part of these activities is an optional module in the ENSICA Graduate Program.

Around 35 private pilot’s licences are awarded each year.

Students may also take part in less conventional aeronautical activities, such as the manufacture of micro-drones or model-aircraft.
